A script usually needs to be written by hand. But there are, tools that make it simpler to configure the <emphasis>netfilter</emphasis> firewall, with a graphical representation of the filtering rules. <command>fwbuilder</command> is undoubtedly among the best of them. The rules are created with simple drag-and-drop actions on objects (interfaces, networks, ports, servers, etc.). A few contextual menus can change the condition (negating it, for instance). Then the action needs to be chosen and configured.

The reliability of this, however, highly depends on the goal of these actions and the integrity of the system itself. This action is not a measurement to prevent potential threats to send data.

The Debian project frequently releases new stable versions of their distribution, rendering old releases eventually outdated and unsupported (see <xref linkend="sect.release-lifecycle" />). The repositories belonging to these releases are then removed from the official mirrors, but can still be accessed using the service at <ulink url="https://www.debian.org/distrib/archive.en"><literal>archive.debian.org</literal></ulink>. Note, that this service allows access to any of the old Debian releases, but does not provide the source package for every binary package offered.
