Installing <emphasis role="pkg">libpam-ldapd</emphasis> automatically adapts the default PAM configuration defined in the <filename>/etc/pam.d/common-auth</filename>, <filename>/etc/pam.d/common-password</filename> and <filename>/etc/pam.d/common-account</filename> files. This mechanism uses the dedicated <command>pam-auth-update</command> tool (provided by the <emphasis role="pkg">libpam-runtime</emphasis> package). This tool can also be run by the administrator should they wish to enable or disable PAM modules.

The <command>mount</command> command can be used without arguments to list all mounted filesystems (as found in <filename>/proc/mounts</filename> as well); you can execute <command>findmnt --fstab</command> to show only the filesystems from <filename>/etc/fstab</filename>. Debian doesn't own any server in its own name, it relies on the <emphasis>Software in the Public Interest</emphasis> (<acronym>SPI</acronym>) association as fiscal host for that. The Debian volunteers still have full control over their assets, SPI acting only as a legal entity representing the Debian project. Due to Debian Trixie being released soon, we hope to release the Trixie version of the book soon as well.
