You have the Track Changes feature enabled for the document. Track Changes records all changes in the text and shows the edits for later revision. Useful for marking changes in text and spreadsheets. Track changes are enabled choosing <span class="ui">Edit</span> → <span class="ui">Track Changes </span> → <span class="ui">Record</span>.
