Instructions for translators

Thanks for helping to translate Ceno Browser!

To get started:

  1. Make an account on Weblate or sign in with your Github or Gitlab ID. Note: Account creation is not required, but you will only be able to suggest translations in this case

  2. Visit the Censorship.no project page - which lists all components and their strings (including Android app strings, the web browser extension, the User Manual and the website).

  3. On the Censorship.no project page's 'Languages' tab, choose the language you want to work on, or -- in case the language doesn't exist yet -- initiate a new language by selecting a component from the main project page and clicking on the "Start a new translation" button. Please note that we can't support shipping arbitrary translations with our published materials unless they have a reviewer (see below).

  4. Please contact the Ceno team at support AT censorship DOT no if you are interested in becoming a reviewer for translation(s) in your language(s).

  5. If you plan to translate the User Manual, please get acquainted with Markdown first (e.g. with this cheatsheet).

In <strong>Personal</strong> mode, you will only contact the Injectors to have that website fetched and delivered to you. The search will not connect to the BitTorrent network and will not attempt to locate the content on other users’ devices.
Nella modalità <strong>Personal</strong>, contatterai solo gli Injectorsiettori per averfare in modo che quel sito web venga recuperato e mostrato a te. La ricerca non si connetterà alla rete BitTorrent e non tenterà di trovare il contenuto danei dispositivi degli altri utenti.

In <strong>Public</strong> mode, Ceno will look into the BitTorrent network to see if another Ceno user has recently shared the requested page. If the service can identify the requested page, it will retrieve that page from another user’s device. If the content is not available, Ceno will contact several Injectors to request that website and have it delivered to you.
Nella modalità <strong>Public</strong>, Ceno cercherà nella rete BitTorrent per vede se un altro utente Ceno ha condiviso la pagina richiesta. Se il servizio riesce ad identificare la pagina richiesta, riceverà quella pagine dal dispositivo di un altro utente. When a website is not accessible due to network filtering/censorship, Ceno will attempt to get the content for you. How Ceno attempts to find content depends on whether you have chosen to use Ceno in <strong>Public</strong> or <strong>Personal</strong> mode.
