In order for the statistics to take all the logs into account, <emphasis>AWStats</emphasis> needs to be run right before the Apache log files are rotated. Looking at the <literal>prerotate</literal> directive of <filename>/etc/logrotate.d/apache2</filename> file, this is solved by the <emphasis role="pkg">awstats</emphasis> package by putting a script in <filename>/etc/logrotate.d/httpd-prerotate</filename> running <filename>/usr/share/awstats/tools/update.sh</filename>.
به منظور اینکه تمام فایل‌های گزارش مورد استفاده قرار گیرند، <emphasis>AWStats</emphasis> نیاز دارد که قبل از چرخش فایل‌های گزارش آپاچی اجرا گردد. با نگاه به عبارت <literal>prerotate</literal> از فایل <filename>/etc/logrotate.d/apache2</filename>، اینکار با قرار دادن یک پیوند نمادین به <filename>/usr/share/awstats/tools/update.sh</filename> در <filename>/etc/logrotate.d/httpd-prerotate</filename> انجام می‌شود.
