@kingu if the main english text ist 1802 characters with spaces, how it should be translated into max. 500 characters ??? Often translation from english in other languages needs even more characters. Thanks for advise ;-) greetz 2 years ago |

Dear @kingu Would you mind either removing strings you regard not needed to be translated or at least locking them in Weblate? On one hand they are too long to be translated, and they appear in the overview (a kind of todo list), because of their untranslated strings, although in reality without any need for translation. Also clicking on the amount of untranslated from the overview directly opens the translation surface, skipping your comment to not translate most of it.

@kingu Hi there, I translated a 2018 changelog and getting a "the translated text is to long" message ...? I copied my text but what is wrong with this system letting no options to save it for the better cause....I learned out of it, that I will not translate old changelogs ;-) But can you tell why the "Übersetzungstext zu lang" is coming up? I will contribute more to show my support for your project. Greetz

@ssantos I could use "read-only", but don't know if that locks the strings or not. Not a fan. Locking strings means errors propagate unchecked. Will experiment in another project. Unlisting (not counting towards totals) is requested in https://github.com/WeblateOrg/weblate/issues/1993 @TheUsefulContributor This isn't my project. I am just one of the Weblate admins for it. Shorten changelogs down to whatever fits (500 chars) abbreviations and "… and more" when you run out of space.
