Curly brackets

Curly brackets in translation strings (e.g. {} or similar) should never be translated as they are used to template information into the string.

Credits

If you want to be credited in the About-page for translating, add your name and optionally email in the format Name <email> into the "translator-credits" key.

Pipeline Slugs

For Pipeline, random "splash text" (a concept from Minecraft) is displayed when reloading the feed. Examples include:

  • The first commit of Pipeline was 1566 days ago.

  • Seeing something you don't like? You can hide videos from your feed based on the title and uploader of the video.

    Those things are not central to the usage of Pipeline, just a fun little feature. Therefore, feel free to skip those strings when translating Pipeline if you don't want to spend time on them (they all have the translation context "Displayed as a splash text").

Due to an upstream bug, most synced contacts display as "Unknown Contact" or only with the phone number. After receiving messages from those contacts and restarting, their name should populate. Their display names may be lost over time though if you don't regularly exchange messages. Furthermore, sending to contacts you have not yet received messages from can lead to rate limiting. Make sure to receive a message from a contact before you send too many. For a full list of bugs, visit the <a href="https://gitlab.com/schmiddi-on-mobile/flare/-/issues/?label_name%5B%5D=bug">issue tracker</a>.
