Instructions for translators	The Library Space Technology Network (LSTN) project offers public library communities the chance to build and engage with space technology. The Wolbach Library in collaboration with the Libre Space Foundation is currently engaged in a pilot to build SatNOGS ground stations at five public libraries around the world. During the pilot, a metadata vocabulary and schema for small satellite missions called MetaSat will be created and tested on the ground stations. The feedback from LSTN participants will ultimately help inform plans to expand the network and build resources to support participating library communities. All of the translations in this component will be applied to the LSTN handbook.

victor59 Translation changed Library Space Technology Network LSTN handbook chapter 9 Italian	English Orbits Satellites are designed by teams of engineers and scientists with a particular mission in mind, such as monitoring Earth's weather events, testing a new battery in space, recording gravitational waves, etc. They are launched into space as cargo, and deployed at a specific orbit. Most of the satellites we can track with SatNOGS ground stations are in low Earth orbit meaning they are between 180 and 2,000 kilometers high, and orbit the Earth every 90 minutes! It is much less expensive to launch a satellite into low Earth orbit than some of the higher orbits, like a geostationary orbit at 35,780 kilometers above Earth. A geostationary satellite's orbital period is 24 hours, meaning from an observer (or ground station) on Earth it would appear as if the satellite is not moving. Geostationary satellites don't require ground station networks because their position is fixed. Low Earth orbit satellites move so fast that it helps to have a 'rotator' built in to the ground station that will track the satellite and move the antenna as the satellite moves quickly across the sky.
