Debian uses Exim4 as the default email server (which is why the initial installation includes Exim4). The configuration is provided by a separate package, <emphasis role="pkg">exim4-config</emphasis>, and automatically customized based on the answers to a set of Debconf questions very similar to the questions asked by the <emphasis role="pkg">postfix</emphasis> package.
