This game uses a custom wordlist, %1$s, that cannot be downloaded from the server. Unless the person you invite also has this wordlist, they will not be able to play this game.

If you know your opponent has the wordlist %1$s installed, tap Ok to invite them anyway. Or use Game Settings to change the wordlist. Or just delete the game.

Please be aware that this wordlist, %1$s, is not available for others to download. This usually means it is custom (built using BYOD), but it could also be obsolete.

Please use %1$s only for local games. If you invite someone to a game that uses it you will have to give it to them manually, as CrossWords does not currently support including wordlists in invitations.

The board is now being drawn dark because “Dark theme” is enabled on your device.

If you prefer the old “Light” theme, or to choose a theme independent of Android’s “Dark theme” setting, you can change “%1$s” in App Settings at any time. The “Settings” button below will take you there now.

This game did not close properly last time it was opened.

That can happen when CrossWords is force-closed, but it is possible that the game is damaged and will cause a crash when opened. If that happens you may want to delete it.

You can look up words BEFORE they’re committed as moves—by long-tapping, same as committed words.

Use this feature to check the validity of words you’re thinking of playing, or to look up an unfamiliar word provided as a hint.

If a scan doesn’t find the device you expect:
• First, just Rescan
• Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the other device
• Launch CrossWords on the other device
• If all else fails, reboot this device

Some phones can exchange SMS “data” messages. CrossWords would like to offer you this option but needs to ask your device about itself first (to learn if it’s a phone and if so what type.)

If your device can’t send data SMS (e.g. because it isn’t a phone) or you don’t ever want to play via SMS (e.g. because you pay for each message), it’s safe to permanently deny permission.
