Instructions for translators

Plone fully supports internationalization and localization. Plone Classic UI comes with 65 local language translations, and the new default frontend Volto comes with 12, at the time of this writing. However, some translations are incomplete, or certain languages have not yet been added. Translations can be added or updated as needed by the citizens of Earth. You will need to work in one repository for Plone core, and optionally another one for Volto.

Please, try to use already existing terms and do not invent new terms.

Please, install Plone first, here you have 2 docker commands to get it up and running, get familiar with it, and only after that start translating.

Be aware that most of the files in this project refer to the plone backend or Classic UI. Those strings on volto package refer only to plone frontend or Volto UI

Please, do not use automatic translation tools or AI based tools if you don't know the language or you haven't used Plone.
