Instructions for translators

This project is used for the translation of the AntennaPod website. New source strings are automatically pushed to Weblate. Once in a while we review the translations and push them to our website. Once quality and coverage is deemed high enough, we (manually) enable a language on the live website.

Please follow the translation guidelines below. This will help ensure accuracy and avoid mistakes.

  1. Machine translation: Please do not use machine translation without reviewing and editing.
  2. Understand the context: Try the app and understand the context before you start translating.
  3. Be consistent: Use consistent terminology, tone, and style (grammar, punctuation, capitalization) throughout the translation.
  4. Be concise: Translations should be concise and to the point. Avoid using long sentences or complex words that may be difficult to understand.
  5. Use simple language: Use simple language that is easy to understand. Avoid using jargon or technical terms.
  6. Be culturally sensitive: Avoid using language that may be offensive or inappropriate. Use gender-neutral language whenever possible.
  7. Proofread: Always proofread your translations before submitting them.
  8. Be aware of character limits: Make sure your translations fit into the space available.
  9. Communicate with developers: Use our forum to communicate with developers to ensure that translations are implemented correctly.
  10. Get feedback: Get feedback from other translators to improve translations over time. If you are unsure about a translation, use our forum to get clarification.

Do you want a new language to be added? Please request it on our forum. The reason that we have this process is that we want to know key translators of our website, in order to facilitate our quality control process. Thank you for your understanding and interest!

AntennaPod is open-source. This means that anyone can download the source code. Unfortunately, some developers take AntennaPod, insert ads and then publish it as a new app. You can get the official AntennaPod app on [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.danoeh.antennapod) and [F-Droid](https://f-droid.org/packages/de.danoeh.antennapod/). You can even get the latest release from [GitHub](https://github.com/AntennaPod/AntennaPod/) and build AntennaPod yourself!

When an episode has been paused and is played again, AntennaPod will automatically rewind, so it is easier to continue following the show. How much is rewound is not configurable and depends on how long an episode has been paused.
Wenn eine angehaltene Episode erneut abgespielt wird, spult AntennaPod automatisch zurück, sodass es einfacher ist, die Sendung weiterzuverfolgen. Wie viel zurückgespult wird, ist nicht konfigurierbar und hängt davon ab, wie lange eine FolgEpisode angehalten wurde.

When you are done listening with an episode, in most cases you want to delete it from your phone, to free up space. There is different ways that you can do that.

You can always use the fast forward button in AntennaPod to skip the ads. If you are streaming an episode instead of downloading, the hosting company has an idea of how far you are in the podcast. It might be possible that the company detects the fact that you skipped the ad and insert a new one. If you instead download the episode, they cannot do that and you can skip the ads more reliably. (Downloading is also better for your privacy because then the hosting company does not know when you listen to which section of the episode. AntennaPod can be configured to automatically download and later delete episodes, so you don't have to do that manually.)
Du kannst jederzeit in AntennaPod vorspulen, um die Werbung zu überspringen. Wenn du eine FolgEpisode streamst, anstatt sie herunterzuladen, weiß der Anbieter, wie weit du den Podcast gehört hast. You can also turn off this process for individual podcasts in case keeping a podcast up to date is unnecessary. You can use this, for example, if no new episodes are released anymore for a podcast. Or when you have added a podcast of which you would listen an episode only occasionally. You can set this by going to a podcast, tapping on the `Gear` icon and changing the `Keep Updated` setting.
Du kannst diesen Vorgang auch für einzelne Podcasts abschalten, wenn es nicht notwendig ist, einen Podcast auf dem neuesten Stand zu halten. Das kannst du zum Beispiel dann tun, wenn für einen Podcast keine neuen FolgEpisoden mehr erscheinen. Oder wenn du einen Podcast hinzugefügt hast, von dem du nur gelegentlich eine FolgEpisode hören möchtest. Du kannst die Option ändern, indem du zu einem Podcast gehst, auf das `Zahnrad`-Symbol tippst und die Einstellung `Aktualisiert halten` änderst.
