Instructions for translators

This project is used for the translation of the AntennaPod website. New source strings are automatically pushed to Weblate. Once in a while we review the translations and push them to our website. Once quality and coverage is deemed high enough, we (manually) enable a language on the live website.

Please follow the translation guidelines below. This will help ensure accuracy and avoid mistakes.

  1. Machine translation: Please do not use machine translation without reviewing and editing.

  2. Understand the context: Try the app and understand the context before you start translating.

  3. Be consistent: Use consistent terminology, tone, and style (grammar, punctuation, capitalization) throughout the translation.

  4. Be concise: Translations should be concise and to the point. Avoid using long sentences or complex words that may be difficult to understand.

  5. Use simple language: Use simple language that is easy to understand. Avoid using jargon or technical terms.

  6. Be culturally sensitive: Avoid using language that may be offensive or inappropriate. Use gender-neutral language whenever possible.

  7. Proofread: Always proofread your translations before submitting them.

  8. Be aware of character limits: Make sure your translations fit into the space available.

  9. Communicate with developers: Use our forum to communicate with developers to ensure that translations are implemented correctly.

  10. Get feedback: Get feedback from other translators to improve translations over time. If you are unsure about a translation, use our forum to get clarification.

    Do you want a new language to be added? Please request it on our forum. The reason that we have this process is that we want to know key translators of our website, in order to facilitate our quality control process. Thank you for your understanding and interest!

Open the overflow menu by tapping the `...` button in the bottom right corner. Go to `+ Add Podcast`. Now, you can search, browse suggestions or add a podcast with its RSS address.

**NOTE:** Did you create a device while setting up synchronisation in AntennaPod, rather than creating a device in advance on the website? Then be sure to press the `Force sync` button to upload the played state of all previously listened to episodes. If you don't do this, only podcasts that were added **after** linking the devices will be synchronized. There is an [open issue for gpodder.net](https://github.com/gpodder/mygpo/issues/388) that requests to change the behavior.

You can set AntennaPod to download episodes to your SD card instead of the internal memory. This ensures that you have more space for episodes. To select the storage card, go to `Settings` » `Downloads` » `Choose data folder`.

Firstly, you can of course manually delete episodes. When viewing the queue or a specific podcast, you can long-press an episode and tap `Delete`. When viewing the `Downloads` screen you can also simply tap the bin icon. If you want, AntennaPod can automatically remove an episode from the queue if it is deleted. You can find this option under `Settings` » `Downloads` » `Delete removes from Queue`. Keep in mind that the `Queue` screen does not show all downloads. Use the `Downloads` screen if you want to see all downloads.

OPML files allow you to transfer your subscriptions to another podcast app. You will lose any podcast-specific or episode-specific data (e.g., which episodes have been played) and all app settings. To export your file, go to `Settings` » `Import/Export` » `OPML export`. Depending on your Android version, you may be asked to choose where to save the file. If a *save dialog* opens right away, make sure to select a folder outside the AntennaPod directory (for example, `Downloads` or another visible folder), so the exported OPML file is not deleted if you uninstall AntennaPod.

Have you recently [exported a backup](/documentation/general/backup) from AntennaPod? Then restoring that is relatively easily: go to `Settings` » `Import/Export` » `Database import` and select the backup file. Note that the backup might contain the partial corruption, so it is still recommended to go through the second step to fix the problem once and for all.
