Instructions for translators

The English source language is maintained on Gitlab, not on Weblate.

Any other languages can be translated directly on Weblate. Translations will be synced back to Gitlab regularly, at least once before every new app release.

Translation notes:

  • Use the informal form for addressing the user. E.g. in German use lower-case "du" instead of "Sie".

I lost my new phone.
And because I don't use Google Services I couldn't locate it and my phone was gone for good.
In the hope that this doesn't happen again, I developed this application, so that I can locate the phone via SMS.

Features:

- Locate the device (using GPS or cellular location)
- Lock the device
- Let the device ring
- Take pictures with the device's camera to see its surroundings
- Factory-reset the device

Usage:

You can control FMD (and thus your phone) either via SMS or via FMD Server.
You send a command to the phone (e.g. "fmd ring") and the phone executes it.

For SMS you can either define a list of trusted contacts (phone numbers) that are allowed to send commands.
Or you can set a PIN to allow anonymous usage.
Then non-trusted phone numbers can also send commands by including the PIN in the message.
This is useful because now if you loose your phone, you can ask a random person for help to wipe your phone remotely.
If you simply text "fmd" to your phone FMD will reply with a text listing the available commands.

With FMD Server you get a web interface to send commands, to view the location of your device on a map,
and to view pictures taken by the device.
You can self-host FMD Server.

E poiché non uso i servizi di Google, non sono riuscito a localizzarlo e il mio telefono è ormai definitivamente smarrito.
Nella speranza che ciò non mi accada di nuovo, ho sviluppato questa applicazione, in modo da poter localizzare il telefono via SMS.

Caratteristiche:

- Localizzazione del dispositivo (tramite GPS o cellulare)
- Blocco del dispositivo
- Attivazione suoneria del dispositivo
- Scatto di foto con la fotocamera del dispositivo per vedere l'ambiente circostante
- Ripristino ai dati di fabbrica del dispositivo

Utilizzo:

È possibile controllare FMD (e quindi il telefono) via SMS o tramite un Server FMD.
Si invia un comando al telefono (ad esempio "fmd ring") e il telefono lo esegue.

Per gli SMS è possibile definire un elenco di contatti fidati (numeri di telefono) a cui è consentito inviare i comandi.
In alternativa, si può impostare un PIN per consentire l'utilizzo anonimo.
In questo modo, anche i numeri di telefono non attendibili possono inviare comandi includendo il PIN nel messaggio.
Questo è utile in quanto, se si perde il telefono, si può chiedere aiuto a una persona qualunque per cancellarne i dati da remoto.
Inviando semplicemente un messaggio "fmd" al telefono, FMD risponderà con un testo che elenca i comandi disponibili.

Con un Server FMD, si ha a disposizione un'interfaccia web per inviare comandi, visualizzare la posizione del dispositivo su una mappa, e per visualizzare le immagini scattate dal dispositivo.
È possibile ospitare un Server FMD autonomamente.
