Instructions for translators

Thanks for helping to translate CENO!

To get started:

  1. Make an account on Weblate or sign in with your Github or Gitlab ID. Note: Account creation is not required, but you will only be able to suggest translations in this case

  2. Visit the Censorship.no project page - which lists all components and their strings (including Android app strings, the web browser extension, the User Manual and the website).

  3. On the Censorship.no project page's 'Languages' tab, choose the language you want to work on, or -- in case the language doesn't exist yet -- initiate a new language by selecting a component from the main project page and clicking on the "Start a new translation" button. Please note that we can't support shipping arbitrary translations with our published materials unless they have a reviewer (see below).

  4. Please contact the CENO team at cenoers AT equalit DOT ie if you are interested in becoming a reviewer for translation(s) in your language(s).

  5. If you plan to translate the User Manual, please get acquainted with Markdown first (e.g. with this cheatsheet).

Once you have loaded a page in a tab, the Ceno icon in the address bar will help you know how it actually retrieved the different elements of the content. We will cover this icon later on.

You can tell public tabs from personal ones because public tabs have a lighter (or white) tool bar:

This setting applies *to each tab* that you open in the browser, i.e. you can have Public browsing tabs and Personal browsing tabs. Ceno's default whenever you start it or open a new tab (via the 'Public Tabs' option on the homepage or the Tabs icon next to the Clear icon in the address bar) is to use Public browsing. To open a new tab in Personal browsing mode, just choose *Personal Tabs* on the homepage or switch to the Personal mode icon in the Tabs menu.
Cette paramètre applique *à chaque onglet* que vous avez ouvert dans votre navigateur, par. ex. vous pouvez avoir des onglets de navigation publique et des onglets de navigation personnelle. Le défaut pour Ceno quand elle est démarrée ou quand vous ouvrez un nouvel onglet (via l’option ‘Onglets Publiques’ sur l’écran d’accueil ou l’icône d’Onglets à côté de l’icône Effacer dans la barre d'adresse) est d’utiliser la navigation publique. Afin d’ouvrir un nouvel onglet en mode de navigation personnelle, vous n’avez qu’à choisir *Onglets Personnels* sur l’écran d’accueil ou changer à l’icône du mode personnel dans le menu des onglets.
