I still think it is necessary to tell the user that the “e-mail address” mentioned here refers to the username field filled with an e-mail address.
The current source string may confuse users.

I was trying to translate this to Swedish and couldn't understand what on Earth it was supposed to mean until I read JY3's comment. So yeah, the source string is useless.

A much better sentence would be along the lines of: Using an email address as a username is not recommended. Do you still want to continue?
