Instructions for translators

Advice (optional to read)

If you want to look where a certain string appears in the source code, go here, and replace chartLengthInSeconds in the search bar at the top left with the key of the string in question.

This goes for practically any project, but I'll reiterate: a bad translation is worse than no translation. If you don't know what's the meaning of what you're translating, it's better to ask in the comments and skip the string for now. Untranslated strings will be displayed in English anyway.

Feel free to add new languages (you'd need to create an account for that (which I recommend anyway)). Although it's best to make sure beforehand that they are actually currently supported in browsers so you work doesn't go to waste, so text me.

Feel free to contact me (or simply write comments) if you face any trouble translating (e.g. if it's not possible to properly translate a string with placeholders).

If you've made a translation but the extension doesn't appear to display in that language, please reach out to me. I might have messed up language codes.

Side note: If you want translation activity to be displayed on your GitHub profile, you also have to star or fork WofWca/jumpcutter-translations. It's because translations are used as a submodule in the main repo. See GitHub docs.

When it's currently silent and then we encounter a loud part, how many seconds prior to it we need to slow down (switch to sounded speed).
This is mostly to ensure that you can clearly hear the very first letters when someone begins to speak.

⚠️ Note that non-zero values will cause audio DISTORTION when switching from silence to sounded speed AND will add constant audio DELAY equivalent to the value of this setting. These drawbacks do not apply if you use the "experimental algorithm".

Cela vise à garantir que vous puissiez entendre correctement les premières lettres prononcées.

⚠️ Notez que des valeurs non nulles entraîneront une distortion audio lors du passage de la vitesse silencieuse à la vitesse sonore, et ajouteront un retard audio constant équivalent à la valeur de ce paramètre. Ces inconvénients ne s'appliquent pas si vous utilisez l'algorithme expérimental.

Note that it is specified as a multiplier of the sounded speed, so e.g. if sounded speed is 1.5 and silence speed is 2, the resulting absolute value will be 3. You can change this behavior on the options page.

Notez que cette valeur comme un multiplicateur de la vitesse sonore. Par exemple, si la vitesse sonore est de 1,5 et la vitesse de silence est de 2, la valeur absolue résultante sera de 3. Vous pouvez modifier ce comportement dans la page des options.
