The mailing lists are, without a doubt, the best testimony to activity on a project, since they keep track of everything that happens. The numbers (from August 2023) regarding our mailing lists speak for themselves: Debian hosts about 325 lists, totaling over ~300,000 individual subscriptions. ~400,000 e-mails are delivered every day.
Списки рассылки без сомнения являются лучшим доказательство активности проекта, поскольку в них отслеживается всё, что происходит. Некоторая статистика (зс августа 20213 года) касательно наших списков рассылки говорит сама за себя: в Ппроекте Debian существует 325 списков, на которые подписаны 295~300000 отдельных адресов. Списки рассылают своим подписчикам 396~400000 сообщений ежедневно.

After the release of a new stable version, the Stable Release Managers manage all further development (called “revisions”, ex: 12.1, 12.2, 12.3 for version 12). These updates systematically include all security patches. They will also include the most important corrections (the maintainer of a package must prove the gravity of the problem that they wish to correct in order to have their updates included).
После выпуска новой стабильной версии, менеджер стабильного релиза управляет всей дальнейшей разработкой (это «ревизии», например, 102.1, 102.2, 102.3 для версии 102). Quantitatively, Debian is undeniably one of the leaders in this respect, with over 34,000 source packages. Qualitatively, Debian's policy and long testing period prior to releasing a new stable version justify its reputation for stability and consistency. As far as availability, everything is available on-line through many mirrors worldwide, with updates pushed out every six hours.

The bug tracking system, initially designed to associate bug reports with a Debian package, has proved very practical to manage other matters: lists of problems to be resolved or tasks to manage without any link to a particular Debian package. The “pseudo-packages” allow, thus, certain teams to use the bug tracking system without associating a real package with their team. Everyone can, thus, report issues that needs to be dealt with. For instance, the Bug Tracking System has a <emphasis>ftp.debian.org</emphasis> entry that is used to report and track problems on the official package archive or simply to request removal of a package. Likewise, the <emphasis>www.debian.org</emphasis> pseudo-package refers to errors on the Debian website, and <emphasis>lists.debian.org</emphasis> gathers all the problems concerning the mailing lists.
Система отслеживания ошибок, изначально разработанная для связывания отчётов об ошибках с пакетами Debian, оказалась весьма полезной и для других целей. С её помощью можно создавать списки проблем, которые следует решить, или задач, которые следует выполнить, без относительно какого-то отдельного пакета Debian. Таким образом, «псевдопакеты» позволяют отдельным командам использовать систему отслеживания ошибок без указания реально существующего пакета.
